Welcome to the Open Mic Page!

The Open Mic runs EVERY night we meet, unless otherwise stated in the GIGS section.

Open mic performers enroll: 7.30 – 8pm
First come, first serve, maximum 8 performers
Open mic is held from 8pm – 8.40pm
Discounted entry: £3 per artist
Generally one song per act if fully subscribed

At the Magpie's Nest we host an Open Mic/Floor spot section at the beginning of the night. All are invited to attend, sing, play an instrument, or both.

The Open Mic has proven to be a really exciting part of our nights, with surprises, amazing performances and undiscovered talent. It is also a great way for potential performers to showcase their material to us, the promoters, the audience, and for the performers to get a feel for the club before they do featured slots.

If you are thinking of attending the club and performing on the open mic, please bear these tips in mind:

* It can be quite busy. Do arrive early (7pm) to get your name on the list to avoid disappointment. We try and accomodate as many as possible, but on really busy night we may have to limit the number of performances.

* We do welcome duos, trios and bands, but would appreciate warning of this. It can take a while to set up bands, sometimes longer than the allocated performance time! Please email us in advance if your set up it rather complicated - you may be asked to come another time if we already have too many bands on.

* Please tell us when you arrive at the club that you wish to perform on the open mic. Give your name at the door, and claim your discounted entry. Tell us at this point your technical requirements and the amount of musicians you have. (i.e. I sing and play guitar, or I sing and my friend plays the cello which needs to have a mic on it)

* On busy nights we have to limit open mic performers to one song each. Please do not be disappointed with this, the scheduling of these nights can be really tight on time!
