The Magpie's Nest is contributing to Stoke Newington Festival by scheduling acts for StokeFest 2008! As with years past, we've put together a great line up of local and London based acts for our independently produced stage. Highlights are the Magpie's Nest Showcase, featuring performances from Magpie's Favs, and of course representing our mantra: New Folk, Old Folk, No Folk. Performers include club compeer, the beautifully voiced Sam Lee, eccentric experimentalist Emit Bloch, Fiddle Playing Legend Pete Cooper and the Electro-Folk star Bishi.
Also performing are The Long Notes - the hottest Celtic Music to come out of the London session scene.
Local acts come in the guise of The Duble, boogie Woogie infused Rockabilly, and The Penny Black Remedy, Eastern European Gypsy flavours!
The afternoon is wrapped up with a Barn Dance from Cut A Shine. Let's hope it's not too muddy or we'll churn up the grass!
