Described by the Scotsman in a five-star review as ‘truly something else’, The Long Notes unite the revered talents of accordionist Colette O’Leary, fiddler Jamie Smith and banjo and mandolin player Brian Kelly. All three musicians have a wealth of touring experience and came together as a group through north London’s ever-vibrant folk scene.

Come join us for a very special Magpie's Nest at an exciting secret venue in the east end. It's also the closing night of our Scottish month of acts! Performing LIVE will be:

Bodega, the most unruly and hotly tipped band to emerge from the Scottish islands; funk infused dance tunes performed by the current young pretenders to the Crown of acoustic dance bands.

The Magpie's Nest on the Southbank: Part One

The Front Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall, 5.30pm

Double Headine night featuring two of our favourite dance bands here at The Magpie's Nest. Both have played for full to bursting nights at the Old Queen's Head, and here team up for a ethno-world-trad-folk-tastic-dance-off at the legendary Cecil Sharp House, Camden's best dancing venue.

This will be The Magpie's Nest Seasonal Party, and what better way to celebrate folk music and close the season than with intimate performances from two families steeped in traditional song and dance past down through generations. This really is the living tradition!
