Jenny McCormick,
Jenny McCormick - A Sailing Song,
An action packed night at the nest with a vast assortment of different and wonderful acts!
Jenny McCormick is an absolutely charming and beautifully voiced singer from Manchester. Her material is a mixture of traditional song and her own compositions, which draws on her love of story-telling, traditional English music and poetry. Together with an eclectic mix of influences, she has a definite country/ folk twang and Jenny is a performer who seems able to move between the traditional folk clubs and the new folk and acoustic scene with an ease that few of her peers have managed, getting the thumbs up from Steve Lamacq and receiving Radio 2 airplay.
Theo Bard is a folk influenced performer, blending a love of traditional song with calypso strums to create a unique and refreshing sound. Infused with astute observations of modern life and embued with a strong appreciation of the folk idiom. One to watch!
Salt and Blue are a South London duo comprised of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Jessica Cahill, described by Nigel Eaton as “one of the best hurdy-gurdy players in Britain, with a superb driving style”, and the uniquely haunting cellist Jakob Kaye. Together they have been described as spine-tingling and hypnotic.
Jake Wilson performed our open mic and stunned us into booking him to come and play more songs for us!
Please note that this show is on THURSDAY the 15th MAY rather than on the Wednesday, due to a clash with the mighty duo Spiers and Boden, whom are performing at the Union Chapel on the Wednesday night. Be sure to be there!
