Long Notes, the
The Long Notes unite the revered talents of Glaswegian fiddler/guitarist Jamie Smith (finalist BBC Radio Scotland Young Musician of the Year/Beneche), London Irish
banjo/mandolin maestro Brian Kelly (Shane McGowan and the Popes/multiple All-Ireland, All-Britain champion) and Irish-born accordionist Colette O'Leary (Bumblebees/multiple All-Ireland champion). All three musicians have come to know each other through the ever-vibrant and constantly shifting music scene in Camden, North London.
The Long Notes are a powerhouse traditional trio who play a heady mix of jigs, reels, heartwarming airs from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Canada as well as self-penned compositions. Guest musicians on The Long Notes debut album include guitarist/vocalist Ewan Roberston (Breabach/BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2008), Julia Reid on bouzouki (World champion Irish dancer), Tim Edey on guitar/bass (Sharon Shannon/Michael McGoldrick Band) and Paddy Gallagher, London's most respected Irish guitar backer.
Individually The Long Notes have played festivals in L'Orient Brittany, Milwaukee US, Tonder Denmark and Celtic Colours Canada, as well as having toured UK, Austria, Germany and France. Upcoming concerts include St. Patrick's Day celebrations at Trafalgar Square, and a tour of Scotland.
