Liz Green sounds like a shy Nina Simone, with an extraordinary voice held right back so that sometimes it's not much more than a whisper, making this an intimate and affecting perfomance. It was just her and her folky acoustic guitar, with little bluegrass flourishes and sometimes funny, sometimes achingly sad lyrical turns that hit you right in the stomach.... If there was any justice in the world, every CD player in the country would have Liz Green on repeat, or even better, every living room would have its own Liz Green in the corner, giving the type of performance that she did tonight.
