Istanbul-born singer Çigdem Aslan (pronounced Cheedem) leads a band including Guitar (Pavlos Melas), Persian santur (Peyman Heydarian), Turkish percussion, Greek bouzouki, and violin in a repertoire of lively music from the Aegean to the Caspian Sea, singing in Greek, Turkish and Kurdish. Following a live session recorded for BBC Radio 3’s World on 3 (broadcast date 5 February) and a support slot for international star Yasmin Levy, Çigdem Aslan is set to bring her unique musical repertoire and beautifully authentic voice to a wider UK audience.
