Description:

Chumbawamba, a band that surely need no introduction or lengthy biography! From the early days of political folk songs supporting the miners strikes in the 1980s they came, via well known forays into the dance music revolution of the early nineties, and now to a new acoustic album exploring issues of today. Always there, skirting the traditional folk scene with their politico-conscious songs, exploring English Rebel Songs and associated workers movements, but always with an international, contemporary and outward looking perspective. Surely, at the last supper of the English Traditional Folk Scene, Chumbawamba would be granted pride of place, albeit at the radical end of the table, seated with the likes of Billy Bragg, Roy Bailey and Leon Rosselson.

Chumbawamba take to the stage once more to celebrate the release of their new album ABCDEFG. The theme of the album is music – that volatile stuff which both the band and their audience have shared for as long as they can remember. Armed with acoustic guitars, accordion and trumpet, five-part harmonies, a bucketful of attitude, the band are touring to promote this gem.

The new songs cover such diverse topics as the wearing of iPods in public places, censorship of music under repressive regimes, the power of the voice and Simon Cowell’s come-uppance.
